We often forget that Covetousness is actually a form of Idolatry
But I will settle him in mine house and in my kingdom for ever: and his throne shall be established for evermore -- I Chronicles 17:14 (KJV)
Who shall ascend into the hill of the LORD? or who shall stand in his holy place? He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully -- Psalm 24:3-4 (KJV)
We are a dynamic, growing fellowship.

The First Baptist Church of Graniteville has a long history which dates back to it's organization in 1847. The first building was a Gothic structure and stood between the canal and the railroad. Although some records have been lost or destroyed, it is believed that the first building was constructed by The Graniteville Company (now Avondale Mills).
The original building was destroyed by fire in the early part of 1886. Within three months a new auditorium had been constructed on Montgomery Street at a cost of $1,800 and served as the meeting place of the church until the present auditorium was constructed in 1929-34. In 1959, construction was begun on the new educational building which continues to meet the needs of the church today. From a very humble beginning with a building costing $1,800, First Baptist Church is now a strong vibrant church with property valued at nearly $2,000,000.
First Baptist Church is a mission minded church which cooperates with the Aiken Baptist Association, The South Carolina Baptist Convention and the Southern Baptist Convention. In addition to regular contributions to the Cooperative Program, special offerings are generously supported. During her 159 year history, First Baptist Church has had at least 30 pastors and nine interim pastors. The present pastor; Steven L. Hendricks began his ministry with the church on April 4th, 2000. The church owes a great debt to the men who have served as pastors during her long history.
Only God knows what the future holds for this church. If her future is as great as her past, her members can indeed be grateful.
